About Southeast Community College
In 1971, the Nebraska Legislature created one system of two-year community college institutions by consolidating junior colleges, state vocational-technical colleges, and area technical schools. Initially, the system was divided into eight regional systems but reduced to six when the Lincoln and Southeast areas were merged in 1973. Thus, Southeast Community College was established and to be governed by a locally elected board.
The SCC region includes a 15-county service area. The Board of Governors includes 11 elected members, two each from five districts within the service area and one at-large member representing all 15 counties.
SCC has campuses in Beatrice, Lincoln, and Milford and operates six Learning Centers throughout the service area. Additionally, more than 50 school districts participate in the Southeast Nebraska Career Academy Partnership where students can earn dual credit to get a head start on their college careers.
